Search off coast of Southwold called off after British and Dutch rescuers fail to find man who fell off ship




The search for a man who fell overboard off a ship was called off last Friday after rescuers failed to locate him.

His Majesty’s Coastguard received reports around 10.30am that a man had gone missing from a ship in the North Sea, 14 nautical miles east of Southwold.

Five lifeboats, a coastguard helicopter, two coastguard fixed-wing aircraft, a fixed-wing aircraft from the Netherlands and several vessels were deployed for the search.

However, despite the efforts of British and Dutch personnel, the search was called off around 11pm.

The man was never found.
