Southwold brewery Adnams wins Best English Rye at the World Whiskies Awards 2024

Adnams is celebrating a global win at the World Whiskies Awards 2024 which is the business’ third victory in a row.

The Southwold brewery has been named Best English Rye for its Rye Malt Whisky. The spirit also received the award in 2021 and 2022.

The rye used in the whisky is grown at a farm in Reydon and the drink is matured in new French oak for at least five years before being bottled.

Head distiller John McCarthy said: “We are extremely pleased with this highly praised spirit’s performance on the awards circuit.

“It’s certainly building a great reputation and is proof that in distilling, you get out what you put in.”

The whisky will now be judged against all other gold rye winners with the potential to be named World’s Best Rye.

Results will be announced at an awards show in London on Wednesday, March 20.
