A12 two-car crash at Yoxford, near Southwold, leaves woman in her 60s with life-threatening injuries




A woman in her 60s has suffered life-threatening injuries following a two-car crash on the A12.

Police were called at about 4.10pm yesterday to the crash on the road in Yoxford, near Southwold, between Middleton Road and Westleton Road.

Emergency services including the air ambulance attended and the road was closed in both directions.

The crash was between a bronze-coloured BMW X1 and a silver Volkswagen Golf.

The woman who was driving the Golf was taken to James Paget Hospital by land ambulance but was later transferred to Addenbrookes Hospital where she remains in critical condition.

A man in his 70s was driving the BMW and he was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after he failed a roadside drugs wipe test for suspected cannabis.

He has been taken to Ipswich Hospital as a precaution.

The A12 remains closed in both directions while the investigation and recovery work continues.

Police are asking for any witnesses to the crash to get in touch quoting incident number 202 of February 22.
