A14 near Stowmarket, between junctions 47 and 49, reopens following serious collision which saw person airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital
The A14 has reopened after seven hours following a serious collision which saw a person airlifted to hospital.
Emergency services were alerted at about 10.30am to the crash near Haughley involving a HGV and a van, with police, the fire and ambulance services and an air ambulance at the scene.
One person was rescued from the van.
National Highways posted on X at 6.44pm to say the carriageway had reopened.
The road was closed westbound between junction 49 at Stowmarket and junction 47 at Woolpit and eastbound between J47A at Haughley and junction 49.
A clean up operation was under way, with traffic diverted via the entry and exit slips in both directions.
One person was airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
Four fire engines from Ipswich East, Princes Street, Needham Market and Elmswell attended the scene.
