Barn at Progress Farm, in Kates Lane, Wetherden, could become home under new plans

A barn in a village could become a home under new plans.

Josephine Fox has applied to Mid Suffolk District Council for prior approval to convert the fourth barn at Progress Farm, in Kates Lane, Wetherden, near Stowmarket, to a three-bedroom property.

The structure is no longer used for the farm business.

If converted, the new home would cover 185 sqm.

Each bedroom would have an en suite bathroom, while there would also be a separate toilet.

At the back of the property would be a large open-plan kitchen, living and dining area.

A planning statement said the existing structure was considered sound and capable of being converted subject to some repairs.

The works will include replacing the roof, repairing the outside blockwork, installing insulation, new doors and windows and creating new internal walls.

Electricity and drainage connections will also be installed.
