Beer lovers are in for a treat as a popular festival returns with four days of pints, food and live music.

The Food Museum’s 28th Festival of Beer and Brewing, held in partnership with CAMRA, kicks off today in Stowmarket and will run until Sunday, July 6.

The event will showcase a wide range of real ales, craft beers and ciders from East Anglian breweries such as Humber Doucy, Bruha and Woodfordes.

This year’s line-up also includes a special showcase of London brewers, featuring Howling Hops and the East London Brewing Company.

Marketing Manager Chloe Brett said: “The beer festival is a favourite event in Stowmarket’s event calendar, showcasing some of the best local breweries and giving visitors an opportunity to try an array of real ales, craft beers and ciders.

“We’ll also have live music, and fantastic food, making this an unmissable event.”

Evening entertainment begins each night from 8pm with live performances by Painting the Silence on Thursday, A No Good Woman and the Kingsnakes on Friday and The Suffolk Slappers on Saturday.

Food options include tagine, loaded fries, barbecue and wood-fired pizza from Feast Café as well as snacks, soft drinks, wine and cocktails from the Horsebox bar.

On Sunday, July 6, the beer festival joins forces with the Stowmarket Food and Drink Festival by offering free entry and an expanded programme of food, drink and family-friendly activities.

Visitors can explore a food producer market on the lawns of Abbot’s Hall, watch live cooking demos in the Kitchen Theatre, take part in hands-on baking at the museum’s outdoor oven and even enjoy Stowmarket’s own mini beach.

Tickets for the beer festival are £4 per day or £10 for a festival pass, though there is free admission on Sunday. Tickets are available on the door.
