Scott Lawrence-Bayly, of Bridge Street, Stowmarket, jailed for 17 years at Ipswich Crown Court for sexually abusing two girls
A man described as a ‘dangerous offender’ has been jailed for 17 years for sexually abusing two girls.
Scott Lawrence-Bayly, 28, of Bridge Street, Stowmarket, was sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday, which also included an extended licence period of five years.
This followed two separate trials – in May 2023 and October of this year – relating to offences which took place over the space of 10 years.
Last year, Lawrence-Bayly was found guilty following an eight-day trial of assaulting a child under 13 by penetration, sexual assault of a child under 13, and causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
The victim in this instance was six-years-old. Lawrence-Bayly was an adult when the abuse took place.
In October, he was found guilty of four more crimes following a four-day trial.
These were oral rape of a child, assault of a child under 13 by penetration and two counts of sexual assault of a child by touching.
Lawrence-Bayly was aged 14 when the offences took place. The victim was eight-years-old.
The judge described him as a dangerous offender who had a significant sexual interest in children when passing sentence.
Detective Constable Sam Chandler, of the Safeguarding Investigation Unit, said: “The crimes committed by Scott Lawrence-Bayly against such young victims were truly abhorrent.
“The impact of his crimes on the victims has been devastating as you would expect.
“He has robbed them of their innocence and their childhood and has caused a long-term psychological harm.
“We are pleased with the sentence that he has been given and it reflects the severity of his crimes.”
