Flagship given approval to build 29 affordable homes in Station Road, Haughley

A new development for 29 affordable homes in a Suffolk village has been given the green light.

Mid Suffolk District Council granted approval to Flagship today to build the homes on land north of Station Road, in Haughley.

Mark Williams, head of land and planning development at Flagship, said it would provide much-need homes for families in a popular and well-connected part of East Anglia.

He said: “We are thrilled to have been given approval for this development.

“We’re looking forward to starting construction and bringing this vision to life."

The site will be made up of bungalows, one, two and three-bedroom homes and include a green space with a children’s play park.

Sixteen of the homes will be allocated to families on the council home waiting list.

They are set to be let by Samphire Homes at 60 per cent market value.

The remaining houses at the site will come under shared ownership.

Mr Williams said: “The environment is at the heart of the plans. These will be low-carbon homes, and we’re taking measures to ensure wildlife can continue to thrive at the site.”
