Election triggered as Mid Suffolk councillor Austin Davies steps down

A by-election is set to happen following the resignation of a councillor.
Cllr Austin Davies, who has represented Thurston since February 2022, announced he would be resigning from Mid Suffolk Council as he was moving out of the area.
As a councillor, he was a member of the audit and standards committee and also had a say in planning as a member of the planning committee.
Cllr Davies was also a company director of Mid Suffolk’s property investment company, CIFCO, and Mid Suffolk Holdings.
Due to his resignation, a by-election has been triggered in Thurston, to take place on September 24.
Nominations for candidates close on August 28 at 4pm.
