Stowmarket Town Football Club to bring the glam with burlesque barbecue extravaganza

A football club is set to bring the glam to town by hosting an evening of burlesque entertainment.

The burlesque barbecue extravaganza is taking place at Stowmarket Town Football Club on Saturday, June 28, promising a night of adult fun.

The 18+ event will see three local burlesque performers take to the stage — Autumn OhMyDayz, William Deep and Tempest Blaze who recently told SuffolkNews how performing had changed her life.

Sarah Merritt, of Stowmarket Community Sports and Social Club CIC, said: “We want to show that we are more than just a football club.

“It’s a pleasure to be involved with something a bit different which is going to bring the glam to Stowmarket.

“We really want to show that we are a community hub for the town — and hopefully, with putting on events like this, people can come to the club, get involved and see what we’re all about.”

Running from 7pm, guests can enjoy an all-you-can-eat barbecue, cocktails and a digital photo booth alongside music, dancing and performances of feathers, sequins and theatrical flair.

The club hopes to welcome a wide mix of guests, from hen and stag parties to work socials, couples and anyone looking for a fun night out or a chance to meet new people.

It is the latest in a series of successful themed events hosted by the club, which have included comedy nights, paint evenings and last year’s popular Christmas Murder Mystery.

Organiser Sophie Horne, of Polstead Press, said: “We just want to try and engage with different audiences here in Stowmarket.

“Burlesque is all about body empowerment and feeling confident in your own skin — a message that we really want to support and help to promote.

“Sometimes it’s good to get out of your comfort zone and try something new, so we really hope people will take the plunge and book their tickets.”

Tickets are £30.50 and can be purchased online at https://buy.stripe.com/fZe7um6gz2Zk3C0dQR.

Stowmarket Town FC has also just launched season ticket sales for the upcoming season and more information can be found here.
