Former HSBC brank in Market Place, Stowmarket, could be transformed into flats and commercial unit
Plans have been submitted which could see a long-empty bank transformed into six flats with a commercial unit.
The former HSBC branch in Market Place, Stowmarket, could be converted under a new proposal submitted to Mid Suffolk District Council by FB Architectural Services on behalf of applicant Mr Wayne.
The plans show the ground floor would be converted to accommodate a commercial unit, however the type of business to occupy the space has not been specified.
It shows five one-bedroom flats, with one on the ground floor behind the commercial unit, three on the first floor and one on the second floor.
The second floor would also accommodate a larger two-bedroom flat.
The property, which has been empty since 2022, has five existing parking spaces at the back and the plans include a bike shed for 10 bicycles.
Due to the building being next to the Italian restaurant Bella Sorrento, the applicant is considering soundproofing the commercial and residential spaces to minimise noise impact if necessary.
The plans were validated on Tuesday, July 23 and will be discussed at a consultation by Mid Suffolk District Council on Friday, August 16.
