Fire destroys thatched roof of cottage in Church Lane, Thwaite




More than a dozen fire crews have been sent to tackle a blaze at a thatched property in Suffolk this morning.

As of 9.50am, 19 teams of firefighters are on the scene of the blaze in Thwaite, which was reported on Church Lane at about 7.40am.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was in the roof of a two-storey thatched property.

Crews from Diss, Harleston, Long Stratton, Ipswich, Framlingham, Leiston, Bungay, Stradbroke, Needham Market, Haverhill, Elmswell, Ixworth and Princes Street have been called to the fire.

UK Power Networks has been called as the fire is also involving power lines.
