Qatari ten-year adventure designing and painting skylines fuels new Stonham Barns venture
An ‘international artist’ has opened a gallery at Stonham Barns to showcase his work.
Stephen Watkins, 45, winner of Contemporary Art Curator Magazine’s Artist of the Future Award 2020 and winner of the Arthouse Gallery Award in the Acrylic Category in 2020, is an architect who specialises in painting buildings and skylines.
Having begun producing art while working in Doha in Qatar, he gained a significant following during his ten years working there, selling 200 paintings.
He is now based in Dennington, and works at at Stonham Barns in Stonham Aspal, Suffolk.
Mr Watkins said: “While in Doha, I revisited my love of painting and my focus was to give permanence to memories such as travel and significant life-shaping events.
“I have now become known for immortalising skylines and places that mean something, either to my life or to the lifestyle of my clients.”
