Bella and Spud dog shop opens in Station Road West, Stowmarket
A couple has launched a new business catering to the needs of dogs and their owners.
Imogen DeCova, 25, and Sam Gower, 23, from Stowupland, have opened Bella and Spud in Station Road West, Stowmarket, which saw a busy opening weekend with a steady stream of customers in its first few days.
Imogen, a former dog groomer, said they spotted an available commercial property in the town and saw it as the perfect opportunity to launch a business offering natural dog treats.
“It’s been going really well so far,” she said. “I’m incredibly passionate about everything dog-related so this feels like a natural progression for us.
“Although we’ve been involved in other businesses before, this is our first shop — and it’s very exciting.
“With my background in dog grooming, this shop allows me to share my knowledge of animal care with our customers, helping people find the best treats and toys suited for their dogs.”
The shop offers a variety of natural dog treats including rabbit, pig, and cow ears, rabbit feet, duck necks and beef intestines, which Imogen describes as a dog owner’s version of a Pick n Mix.
The business also provides harness fittings and specialty foods for dogs with sensitive stomachs — which the couple said are not always easily found in regular supermarkets.
The shop’s name, Bella and Spud, is a tribute to the couple’s own dogs — Bella, a Labrador, and Spud, a Shih Tzu.
