Stowmarket schoolboy raising awareness for Friends of the Earth with litter picks

A five-year-old boy is living out Greta Thunberg’s theory that ‘no one is too small to make a difference’ by picking up litter every day for a month.

Joined by his mum Claire, Jack Ward is committing to collect waste every day in February from neighbourhoods around their Stowmarket home.

And the Abbott’s Hall Primary School pupil is fulfiling his pledge to ‘help the world’ twice over by raising funds for environmental organisation Friends of the Earth.

Claire, who also has a younger son, said: “He watched a CBeebies series which showed the impact of plastic and he said he wanted to help the world.

"Litter picking was his idea and we have been out with pickers every day.”
