A leisure centre is celebrating £80,000 gym upgrades with a free open weekend for people to try out the new equipment.

Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre, in Gainsborough Road, Stowmarket, is set to welcome those aged 16 and over for free gym sessions from 8am to 4.30pm on Saturday, June 21 and 7am to 4pm on Sunday, June 22.

A recovery zone has also been added, which includes Therabody Theraguns, designed to provide deep muscle massage and promote recovery.

The centre, run by Everyone Active in partnership with Mid Suffolk District Council, will also host other paid-for activities during the open weekend including swimming, badminton, squash, soft play and bowls.

Cllr Tim Weller, cabinet member for environment, wellbeing and culture, said: “It’s great to see the addition of new machines and equipment to the facilities at Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre, offering even greater variety to keep residents as fit and healthy as possible.”
