Man arrested in connection with Andrew Bingham Funeral Service, in Milton Road South, Stowmarket, fire is bailed




A man arrested in connection with a fire which severely damaged a funeral home has been bailed.

Police and the fire service were alerted to the incident in Milton Road South, Stowmarket, at 6.25pm and 6.08pm respectively on Saturday evening.

Andrew Bingham Independent Funeral Service was hit in the blaze, which it described as ‘devastating’ but reassured families their loved ones were safe and had been respectfully moved to its nearby premises.

Fire crews from Stowmarket, Needham Market, Bury St Edmunds, Debenham and Haverhill were dispatched to the scene.

Police are investigating the incident as arson.

A 47-year-old man of Stowmarket was arrested yesterday in connection with the incident.

He was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning and has since been released on bail until November 24.
