Man arrested in connnection with Milton Road South, Stowmarket, fire




A man was arrested after a fire in a town centre.

Police and the fire service were called to the incident in Milton Road South, Stowmarket, at 6.25pm and 6.08pm yesterday evening respectively.

Crews from Stowmarket, Needham Market, Bury St Edmunds, Debenham and Haverhill were dispatched to the scene.

The fire has been extinguished but emergency services remained at the scene as of 5.10pm this afternoon.

No one was injured.

In the early hours of this morning, a man was arrested in connection with the incident.

He was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre, where he remains.

Andrew Bingham Funeral Service, which has a building in Milton Road South, posted on its Facebook page to say the ‘devastating fire’ severely damaged the home.

However, it reassured families that their loved ones were safe and had been moved ‘with the utmost of care’ its nearby premises.
