A14 between Stowmarket and Needham Market reopens following 12-hour closure due to lorry crash

A stretch of the A14 has reopened after being shut for nearly 12 hours following a two-lorry crash which saw a man taken to hospital.

Emergency services including police, ambulance and fire crews were called to the westbound carriageway between Stowmarket and Needham Market at about 1.45pm yesterday.

A man was taken to West Suffolk Hospital with arm injuries, a police spokesperson said.

The road was shut between junctions 49 and 50 with closures starting to lift around 11.30pm and the road fully reopening at 1.24am.

A National Highways spokesperson said once the lorries had been recovered, teams needed to clean up battery acid that had been spilt from one of the vehicles onto the road.

Suffolk Police confirmed no arrests were made.
