Thomas Hickmott, of Walsham-le-Willows, to be sentenced after admitting driving under the influence in Badwell Ash and causing damage in crash

A man will be sentenced after admitting driving under the influence and causing damage in a crash in a village.

Thomas Hickmmott, 31, of Elm Drive, Walsham-le-Willows, appeared at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Friday charged with five driving offences.

The charges, to which Hickmott pleaded guilty, stem from an incident in The Street, Badwell Ash, on September 22.

The court heard he drove a Ford Fiesta in Badwell Ash – which he had taken without the owner’s consent and used without insurance and a licence – while he was over the alcohol limit.

Hickmott had 66 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his breath, which is nearly double the limit.

The court heard, in the taking of the Fiesta, which was aggravated, he caused damage of less than £5,000 to the vehicle after it hit a roadside speed indicator and a small brick wall.

Hickmott failed to stop after this collision.

He will appear before the same court on May 14 to be sentenced.
