Person hit by train between Norwich and Stowmarket pronounced dead at the scene, British Transport Police confirm

A person who was hit by a train yesterday between Norwich and Stowmarket died at the scene, British Transport Police have confirmed this morning.

Officers were called to the line close to Norwich at 3.14pm yesterday afternoon following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Greater Anglia released a statement that services running to and from Norwich and Stowmarket may be cancelled, delayed or revised after the incident.

Meanwhile, a statement on the National Rail website said disruption between Ipswich and Norwich was expected until about 6.30pm.

The lines reopened at around 5.40pm, but delays continued.

Paramedics were called but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

A British Transport Police spokesperson confirmed the incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
