Consultation launched on new Stowmarket retail park and trading estate including an M&S Foodhall
Hundreds of jobs could be created with multi-million pound plans for a new retail park including an M&S Foodhall in Stowmarket.
Location 3 Properties Ltd last week launched a community consultation on the £14 million proposals for a retail park and trading estate on land in Tomo Road and Gun Cotton Way.
It would include three new retail stores with an anchor M&S Foodhall, which Location 3 said had already signed up to take space with another unit under off to a national retailer.
Meanwhile, four trade units would be designed to appeal to a range of businesses.
The firm said that regenerating the site is likely to generate 200 full and part time jobs.
The 2.6 hectare site is 400m to the east of Stowmarket town centre and is currently rough grasslands surrounded by hedgerows and mature trees.
It sits between the Tomo Road Business Park to the east and sewage treatment works and Atex Business Park to the south/south-east.
Location 3 Properties is running an online consultation here and is appealing for residents’ views.
It said a planning application would be submitted this autumn, with the aim to start construction next year.
A spokesperson for Location 3 Properties Ltd said: “We’re really pleased to be working with M&S to bring forward plans to develop this site and open a brand new M&S Foodhall.
“We’re hoping to submit a planning application this year.”
They added that they were keen to hear from the community about the plans.
