Plans for four ‘barn style’ houses at Grassy Lane Farm, off of Warren Lane, near Stowmarket, lodged with Mid Suffolk District Council
Plans to change four barns to houses in a village have been lodged with a council.
The application for the project at Grassy Lane Farm, off of Warren Lane, near Stowmarket, was submitted to Mid Suffolk District Council on Wednesday.
The four barns, which are to the south-east of Woolpit, are all single-storey and were the subject of an approved change of use application in November 2022, but the new build dwellings now proposed would provide a ‘material betterment’ to the site, a design and access statement said.
The statement, prepared by Peter Wells Architects on behalf of applicant Mr M Peart, detailed how the barns would be demolished and replaced by four semi-detached single-storey new build properties.
There would be two houses on either side of a courtyard, which would have central parking bays. The proposed dwellings would have a ‘barn style’ form and presence, finished with agricultural style materials.
The homes would have bedroom accommodation in the front to middle areas and an open plan living, kitchen and dining area at the back.
