Past and present Ipswich Town footballers visit Stowupland High School and Bacton Primary School near Stowmarket




Popular football stars visited two Suffolk schools during half-term to meet pupils, answer questions and test their football skills.

Current and former Ipswich Town stars Cameron Burgess and Luke Chambers visited Stowupland High School and Bacton Primary School near Stowmarket.

On Wednesday, February 15, Stowupland Sports Centre hosted the Ipswich Town Foundation Soccer School where children aged between six and 12 were split into groups to take part in a range of skill and fitness activities.

Cameron said: “It was fantastic to come along and see the young players, they were all loving the camp and it shows how great these sorts of things are during half term.

“I remember coming to these when I was young and they were really fun.”

Former tractor boy Luke Chambers hosted his football academy on Tuesday, February 14, at Bacton Primary School.

Both schools are part of the John Milton Academy Trust which also includes Cedars Park Primary, Mendlesham Primary and the John Milton Sixth Form at Stowupland High School.

Charlotte Darlow-Hunt, who manages the sports centre at Stowupland High School, said: “We had a packed roster of half-term activities across many of the Trust’s schools.

“The football sessions were a huge success, with scores of children coming along to learn new skills and to meet their heroes.

“We would like to say a huge thank you to Cameron and Luke, and their organisations, for coming down to meet the children and share their amazing football knowledge.

“The children loved meeting them and I’m sure it will inspire them to continue improving their skills.”
