LEARN MOREA Suffolk road has reopened after it was closed by police earlier today due to safety reasons caused by the hot weather.
Officers said the A140 was shut between The Stonham Magpie pub in Little Stonham and the junction for Mickfield at about 3.30pm.
At the time, a spokesman said: "The road surface is causing problems for motorists and is unsafe due to the hot weather."
Motorists were advised to avoid the area.
At 5.40pm, police said the road had reopened.
Suffolk Highways have since said some issues have been identified with the road surface, which were made worse by the hot weather.
A spokesperson said: "We are working to maintain traffic flow by applying grit to the road and placing '20mph' and 'uneven road surface' signs to warn road users."
They added that more work will take place next week to repair any damaged areas of the road surface, and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
