Stowmarket Town have confirmed that Robbie Sweeney will be departing the club following the conclusion of this weekend's game.

The home clash with Great Wakering Rovers on Saturday will be the attacking midfielder's last outing in a Stowmarket shirt, having found it increasingly tough to commit to the demands of playing at a higher level alongside running a business.

Sweeney joined the Old Gold & Blacks from Wroxham in the summer of 2018 and went on to become a key member of the squad that achieved promotion to Step 4 and had a couple of memorable Buildbase FA Vase runs.

However, with work commitments growing, Sweeney has taken the decision to move on.

Manager Paul Musgrove told the Stowmarket website: "The football club would like to wish Robbie Sweeney all the very best for his future business and football career.

"Robbie has been with the club four years now and has become a fan favourite. Robbie is leaving the club to concentrate on his new business, which means the travel and schedule at Step 4 football cannot be committed to.

"Robbie, from all of the management staff, players, committee and our brilliant fanbase, thank you."

Sweeney has made 10 appearances for Stowmarket in the Pitching In Isthmian League North Division this term.
