Stowmarket Town midfielders Luke Read and George Quantrell head for the exit door




Stowmarket Town have confirmed the departures of midfield duo Luke Read and George Quantrell.

Read joined the Old Gold & Blacks in October 2017 from neighbouring Bury Town and marked his debut by scoring in a 2-2 draw with Haverhill Borough.

He went on to make a total of 106 appearances for the club, during which he contributed 14 goals.

Stowmarket manager Paul Musgrove told the club's website: “Luke and I spoke regarding our future plans of the team and we both agreed to move in different directions.

“It come to one of them natural ends, as it does, and we finished on really good terms.

“We wish him well and thank him for his efforts while wearing the Stowmarket shirt.”

Also leaving Greens Meadow this summer is youngster Quantrell.

The former Peterborough United trialist, who rejoined Stowmarket from higher-league Dereham Town last October, was pictured playing for Leiston in a recently friendly clash at Bury.
