Star Wars Legends Comic Con Weekender at Stonham Barns Park near Stowmarket

Star Wars enthusiasts flocked to a new comic con in Suffolk earlier today and enjoyed having their photographs taken with some of their favourite characters.

The Legends Comic-Con Weekender at Stonham Barns Park, near Stowmarket, which is also running tomorrow (Sunday August 6), gave cosplay groups and traders the opportunity to meet enthusiasts.

Families at the comic con also had the chance to have their merchandise signed by actors that have appeared in Star Wars, Batman and Harry Potter.

One of the actors proving popular with fans was Daniel Eghan, who has appeared in Star Wars films: Rogue One and Solo.

Daniel said: “I love meeting Star Wars fans sometimes they know more about the films I have been in than I do.”

The actor who has been attending comic cons for the last four years will soon be appearing in Apple TV series Silo, and film Cinderella’s Curse.

Traders at the comic con sold everything from books and retro toys, to Dungeons & Dragons miniatures and pop culture prints.

Adam Haddock from Pitta Patta Emporium, a 3D printed tabletop miniatures business based in Suffolk, said: “It has been really nice to talking to all the families at the comic con and all of the other traders.”

He added: “This is our first con and we had a really great day and met some super friendly people – hopefully we will be back again next year.”

The Legends Comic-Con Weekender is being organised and hosted by Star Wars fans Jason Buxton and David Chaplin from the Vaders Raiders costume group.

Jason said: “The hope is the event will become an annual show and build up the fun of cosplay in the region.”

Vaders Raiders are using the event to fundraise forCombat2Coffee, a charity offering rehabilitation, veteran outreach, and training courses for members of the British forces.

A cosplay competition was held on Saturday afternoon and another will take place tomorrow.
