Two men jailed for drug offences after cash and cocaine found in caravan near Stowmarket
Two men have been jailed for more than two years each for drug offences after cash and cocaine were found by officers in a caravan.
Xhenis Demaj, 27, of High Street, Thatcham, in Berkshire, was sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court on Tuesday to 28 months in jail, following his guilty plea to being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.
Ezmir Zenelaj, 27, of Mawney Road, Romford, was also jailed for 28 months after his guilty plea to being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.
On September 7, a grey Skoda was stopped by the Sentinel West Team on the A140 at Beacon Hill, near Needham Market.
A Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act search revealed a small amount of cash and drugs paraphernalia in the vehicle with both occupants of the vehicle arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.
Both suspects were charged with being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and Damaj was additionally charged with driving without a licence.
The Skoda was seized due to no valid licence or insurance.
Enquiries established a caravan near Stowmarket where the pair had been staying.
A search of the caravan found a large quantity of uncut cocaine and about £1,000 in cash located with the drugs that had a street value of approximately £20,000.
PC Mike Spurling, from the Sentinel Team in the West, said: “It is very satisfying to see these two individuals bringing these harmful substances onto our streets have now been detained, prosecuted and sentenced for their crimes.
“It once again sends out a very clear message that we will robustly deal with individuals that are involved in organised criminality and those that scourge our communities by dealing drugs.
“They both now have lengthy sentences to reflect on their actions.”
