Two new drive-thrus, expected to house Starbucks and Leon, will be built in Stowmarket
An American coffee giant and a British fast-food chain could move into a Suffolk town as two new drive-thrus are set to be built.
Mid-Suffolk District Council approved plans to build two new business pods on undeveloped land south of Gun Cotton Way in Stowmarket on Wednesday.
It is expected that Starbucks and Leon will move into the lots, according to the proposals, although nothing has been confirmed.
The plans were submitted on behalf of EG Group Ltd, who believe the two chains could bolster the offerings at the site.
It is also located opposite a Tesco superstore, and will be easy to access from the A1120.
They would be built on a fenced-off part of the site, on which a pub was supposed to be built when planning permission for the park was granted in 2018.
Proposals state that 61 more parking spaces, including four disabled bays, and two electric vehicle charging points, will also be introduced.
Each joint would also have dedicated cycle bays.
The proposed Starbucks will be located in the south-western corner of the site, while the Leon will be located on the eastern side and face westwards.
The site would be accessed by driving in Thorney Way, via Gun Cotton Way.
