A1088 Bridge Farm Bridge in Stowlangtoft to close for five months for bridge replacement

A Suffolk road will be closed for five months while bridge replacement works take place.

Works on the A1088 Bridge Farm Bridge in Stowlangtoft are set to start on Monday, July 22 and will continue until Friday, December 20.

The project aims to secure the longevity of the structure to ensure that it is safer for all motorists.

The 151-day closure will see traffic diverted via the A1088, A14, A143 and vice versa with signage placed along the route.

A detailed diversion route can be found here.

As part of preparation works before the closure, Suffolk Highways has held consultations with residents who are concerned local roads would be used to bypass the closure without using the official diversion route.

Temporary advisory speed limits reduced to 20mph and 30mph will be in place on several of the routes highlighted by residents and, in order to prepare for a higher volume of traffic on the roads, reactive repair works will be carried out before next month’s closure.
