West End star Kerry Ellis to perform hometown concert at The Regal in Stowmarket
A West End star is set to return home to Suffolk for a night of songs, stories and a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
Kerry Ellis, known her stand out roles on the West End and Broadway, including performances in 'We Will Rock You,' 'Anything Goes,' and as the first-ever Elphaba in the West End’s 'Wicked,' will be performing in Stowmarket on January 25, 2025.
After growing up in Haughley and attending Abbotts Hall Primary, Stowmarket Middle School and Stowmarket High School, Kerry will be taking to the stage once again at The Regal in Ipswich Street – a venue she first graced at the age of three.
She said: “I’m so excited to be performing at The Regal where it all began for me.
“I remember being part of a Panto when I was about three, so to come full circle and bring my show to where I grew up will be nostalgic and wonderful.”
Kerry is one of the most celebrated performers in musical theatre and Queen’s Brian May said she has ‘Britain’s most beautiful voice’.
Ahead of her performance, Kerry has also taken the role of the venue’s official patron.
General manager Bethany Crouch said: “Kerry has such close ties with Stowmarket and speaks so fondly of the town and local area in her book (Bumpkin To Broadway) mentioning visits to the old Simpsons toy store and having trampoline and dance lessons in Onehouse.
“It was an obvious partnership for us, and we were overjoyed when Kerry eagerly accepted our invitation to become our patron.”
Tickets for Kerry Ellis live at The Regal will go on sale on Saturday, August 3 and tickets will be available from 10am on www.regalstowmarket.co.uk or by telephone on 01449 612825 between the Box Office open hours of 4pm to 5pm.
Kerry added: “I’m honoured to become patron of the theatre that started off my passion.”
