Langams Wine Bar by Heart of Suffolk Distillery in Market Place, Stowmarket, to close at the end of this month
A Suffolk wine bar is to close sooner than expected.
Langams Wine Bar by Heart of Suffolk Distillery in Market Place, Stowmarket, had hoped to continue trading until the end of May.
But in a statement, the owners said they have made the ‘difficult decision’ to bring the closing date forward to the end of this month, instead.
Langams café will still run in the day, however.
Tom Mills and Ryan Luke, said in statement: “Sometimes, it is important to know when to stop and take a breath.
“We have been overwhelmed by everyone's kind words since we announced that we would stop trading at the end of May.
“Upon reflection we have made the difficult decision to bring our closing date forwards and we will no longer be open to the public during May.
“We have a handful of private parties which we are hosting so you will still see the lights on during some evenings, however our regular evening trade will not be taking place.”
Jo Frogley originally opened the Langams café in July 2019.
She joined forces with the distillery in August last year, who ran venue as a wine bar in the evening, and hosted many popular quizzes and Boozy Bingo nights.
Jo Frogley has previously said that she will run the café until a buyer is found.
The premises was put on the market at the beginning of April with the owner citing a ‘change of circumstances’.
Ryan and Tom have urged customers to continue to support the café in the meantime.
They said: “Jo and her team will continue to run Langams as a Café during the day so please show them all of your support.
“We would just like to take this final chance to thank everyone for their support whilst we have been open, especially everyone that helped us out along the way.”
The wine bar owners have said they want to concentrate on other areas of their business including the recently opened Secret Distillery, at 3 Short Brackland, Bury St Emunds.
