Stowmarket stabbing: Simon and Nicola Jones of Needham Market charged following attack in Leveret Gardens




A mother and son have been charged in connection with a stabbing.

Police were called at 11am on Sunday, February 2, following reports that a man had been attacked in Leveret Gardens, Stowmarket — off Union Road.

The man, in his 20s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Officers tracked down the suspect’s vehicle to Norwich Road, Ipswich, where the driver, a 60-year-old woman, was arrested at 11.35am.

A man, 26, was arrested in the town at an address in Grimwade Street at 12.25pm.

Both were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre where police were granted more time for questioning.

Simon Jones, of Freehold Road, Needham Market, was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of a knife in a public place.

Nicola Jones, also of Freehold Road, was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The pair appeared at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court today where Simon was remanded in custody and is set to enter pleas at Ipswich Crown Court on March 4.

Nicola was granted conditional bail and will also attend the hearing on the same date.
