Historic pub The Buxhall Crown, near Stowmarket, set to reopen as La Vista traditional Italian restaurant and bar
A former village pub is set to reopen as a traditional Italian restaurant and bar.
Lavista at the Crown is due to open in early May.
The restaurant and bar is at the site of the Buxhall Crown, Mill Road, Buxhall near, Stowmarket, which closed in May 2020.
It is the family project of Raymond and Julia Compton and will be managed by their son, Alexander.
Experienced and award-winng restaurateurs, the couple are excited to open at the venue, which dates back to the 17th century.
Julia said: “It is such a lovely venue and the views are wonderful.
“We chose the name La Vista, meaning ‘the view’ in English, as it really is special. You could really believe you were in Tuscany.”
The couple will offer traditional, rustic dishes.
Julia said: “The menu will be the culmination of 25 years experience and long stays in the various regions of Italy.
“Our goal is to serve very traditional dishes which rely on simplicity, taste, flavour and genuine Italian ingredients to make them outstanding.
“As all our food is produced by us from raw ingredients, we know exactly what’s in it.
“Without an additive in sight, it not only tastes good but does you good. We hope people will also like our homemade desserts.
“We will also offer drinks at the wine bar.”
The Buxhall Crown has been a licenced premises since 1888.
Set close to a disused tower mill, it offers views over the surrounding open countryside.
