Beer festival to celebrate couple's first year in charge of Lindsay Rose pub
A couple are set to celebrate their first year behind the bar of a small village pub.
Charlie Buckle, along with his partner Sophie, took over the 500-year-old Lindsay Rose last summer.
Now, thanks to the hard work and skills of the young couple, the pub is thriving once again.
Charlie said: “We reopened the Rose last May after a major facelift. It had always been a comfortable country pub with good food and we wanted to carry that atmosphere on and improve its traditional appeal.
“Our first year has been brilliant and we have thoroughly enjoyed it. It has been very hard work, with very long hours and a great churn of old and new faces, which we love.
“Sophie and I find the work really rewarding and Lindsey is such a beautiful place to live and work.”
Next month, the couple will celebrate their anniversary with a beer festival featuring more than 30 ales – almost all of them brewed in Suffolk and Essex.
Beer drinkers willing to experiment will be able to taste ales flavoured with a hint of grapefruit, honey or aniseed, as well as bitters, porters and stouts.
The anniversary festival starts at noon on August 3 and runs for three days until August 5. There will be live music, a hog roast and a cocktail bar.
