Little Earth Project, in Edwardstone, collaborates with Ampersand Brew Co, in Diss, to launch Small World session lager
Suffolk and Norfolk breweries have teamed up to create a new lager which uses barley grown at a Suffolk farm.
Little Earth Project, in Edwardstone, near Sudbury, has partnered with Ampersand Brew Co, in Diss to produce Small World session lager.
As Little Earth Project primarily works with wild yeasts, the team contributed 225kg of locally-grown malted barley from Shimpling Park Farm, near Lavenham, for the brew.
John Pawsey, of Shimpling Park Farm, said: “All of us are incredibly excited to be able to supply our organic malting barley to the collaboration of the Little Earth Brewery and Ampersand Brew Co.
“Getting close to our customers has always been incredibly important to us and so to be involved in this partnership is an absolute joy for us.”
The gluten-free beer was brewed at Ampersand’s facility due to space limitations, but the breweries share more than just ingredients.
During the collaboration it was revealed that Ampersand’s owner Andy Hipwell has family ties to the same Canadian town where Little Earth’s Dani Mountain grew up.
This ‘small world’ moment inspired the name behind the collaboration.
Small World session lager is available in select pubs and shops, including Edwardstone White Horse, Ampersand Taproom, in Diss, and Two Sevens Deli, in Sudbury.
