Campaigners brave windy weather in fight for NHS

Campaigners took to the streets in Sudbury and Hadleigh as part of a national movement to save the NHS.

With petitions in hand, the supporters gathered outside the town hall in Sudbury and on the high street in Hadleigh to drum-up signatures for a petition aimed at asking prospective MPs to protect the NHS from privatisation.

The nationwide initiative was organised by pressure group 38 Degrees, which estimated that more than 9,000 members across the UK would turn out to campaign.

In Hadleigh, a group of around 15 campaigners braved the windy conditions to gather signatures.

Former psychiatric nurse Angela Wiltshire, who worked for the NHS for 25 years, said the campaign was aimed at communicating the public’s strength of feeling towards the NHS to all prospective MPs.
