Sudbury car meet-up inspired by enthusiasm of two boys delivers day to remember

A motorists’ meet-up inspired by the enthusiasm of two young car spotters exceeded all expectations at the weekend, according to its organiser.

Around 150 cars and motorcycles of all kinds met at the car park of Hevey Building Supplies, in Sudbury, for the ‘H & L Car Meet’ on Saturday.

The event – named after local 12-year-old car enthusiasts Harry Green and Leonard Lazurca – drew about 300 people throughout the day.

Organiser Adrian Mayhew said he wanted to support Harry and Leonard’s passion for cars, having been impressed by their knowledge after noticing them filming vehicles locally.

Following its success, he is now seeking a larger venue to hold a second event next spring.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better day,” he said. “It went better than I ever imagined.

“The event was for these two lads, but lots of other kids turned up as well. It was a great way to get the Sudbury community together.”
