Plans submitted for Melford Hall National Trust site could see CCTV and safety systems upgraded
A planning application has been submitted for CCTV cameras, sirens and changes to a fitted wardrobe at a National Trust site to provide upgraded protection for occupants.
Melford Hall, a grade-I listed tudor manor house in Long Melford near Sudbury, could see the cameras, sirens, battery extenders and CCTV bridges installed if plans submitted to Babergh District Council are given the go-ahead.
A gas sub-meter has also been proposed for the site, as well as oak clade housing to cover the meter and fire protection on internal doors.
If approved, the first floor fitted wardrobe would also be altered to allow for electricity upgrades and surge protection.
In a statement submitted to the council, the National Trust said the changes will help prevent theft, provide fire protection for occupants, and upgrade electrical and lightening protection systems to meet modern standards.
The Hyde-Parker family gave Melford Hall to the National Trust in 1960 but still live in part of the property.
