A village hall could find itself in trouble if new committee members cannot be found after three trustees resigned after 13 years of service.

Having overseen the complete refurbishment of the hall, chairman Roger Messer and bookings secretary Mary Waite will leave at the end of February, with treasurer David Busby due to step down today.

The hall’s future could be at risk if new volunteers do not come forward to fill their positions.

Under the trust’s deed, there must be at least four committee members, with the raft of departures leaving only three.

Committee secretary Angela Pacey described the situation as desperate, saying nobody had offered to join.

“I think a lot of people just sit back and think other people will come forward,” she said. “But we have not had any interest.”

Mrs Pacey praised those committee members who were set to stand down, describing their efforts as amazing.
