Festive Long Melford showcase returns to give spotlight to village's independent businesses
The Christmas season is well and truly under way in Long Melford, which will come together for a special showcase this weekend.
Shops and businesses will once again be adorned with a big red bow to mark Festive Long Melford, an annual Christmas-themed event taking place all day on Saturday.
The Friends of Long Melford Primary School and Long Melford Library will be alongside businesses in providing special festive offers and seasonal treats.
Santa’s grotto will be in place on Policeman’s Green, while children can also enjoy Punch and Judy shows, and a chance to feed the reindeer and meet a unicorn – a new attraction for this year.
Jess Brown, from the Long Melford Business Association, who also runs the Jessica Muir Gallery in Hall Street, said: “Long Melford is looking forward to welcoming visitors back to the village for this annual Christmas event.
“It’s a great opportunity for shoppers to explore our wealth of independent businesses, while enjoying lots of festive entertainment.”
Entertainment will be provided by numerous local groups, including the silver band and morris dancers.
In addition, visitors are also invited to view the vintage steam engines on display for the day, as well as a birds of prey demonstration.
Parking on the day is free, with three car parks around the village open for visitors to access.
