Four hospitalised after fire breaks out in flat above Weavers Tap pub in Sudbury




A fire broke out above a pub in Sudbury earlier today, resulting in four people being taken to hospital.

Fire crews from Sudbury, Long Melford and Halstead were deployed to a flat above Weavers Tap on the B1115 East Street, after receiving reports of the fire at around 7.53am this morning, filling the home with smoke.

Three adults and two children were evacuated from the building as firefighters brought the blaze under control and used positive pressure ventilation to disperse the smoke.

A Suffolk Fire Service spokesman confirmed the flames had been extinguished by approximately 8.47am, and that the cause of the fire is currently unknown at this time.

Paramedics also attended the scene and treated to six people for smoke inhalation, before transporting four of them to West Suffolk Hospital, according to the East of England Ambulance Service Trust.
