An online fundraising appeal has been launched for a family, after their Sudbury home was gutted by a blaze.

Firefighters were called to the mid-terrace home in Cats Lane on Monday at approximately 9am.

On hearing a fire alarm, the family managed to leave the property.

Firefighters gained entry to the first floor by the use of a ladder. The blaze was brought under control by 10.15am.

An online appeal has been set up along with calls for donations, including clothing for girls aged one, five and seven, which can be donated at McColls newsagents in Applegate Mews, Great Cornard.
