GCSEs 2020: Thomas Gainsborough School in Great Cornard hails results as 'true reflection' of students' hard work
Thomas Gainsborough School in Great Cornard says it has been delighted to present an excellent set of GCSE results to its students today, describing them as a true reflection of their hard work.
This year, the grades for the school's 270 Year 11 students were determined through teacher predictions, after the coronavirus pandemic led to the cancellation of exams.
Particularly successful students this year include Charlie Wilson, who achieved 8 grade nines and 1 grade eight, Alex Maughn, who received 6 grade nines, 3 eights and 1 seven, and Daisy Hamner, who attained 5 nines, 2 eights and 2 sevens.
Headteacher Wayne Lloyd said “We are delighted to recognise all the hard work and excellence of our Year 11 students.
“We were able to present them with grades that reflect their successes and that are a true reflection on them.
“These have been unprecedented times and it is only right and proper that the class of 2020 should be able to celebrate everything they have achieved.
“We look forward to welcoming over 120 of them back into our sixth form in September.”
