The owner of a health and wellbeing business in Sudbury has hailed the arrival of her 10th anniversary milestone after overcoming the challenges of two relocations and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Health Foods & Therapies For You, in North Street, is marking a decade of trade with a week of taster treatments, talks, demonstrations and samples at the end of this month, along with an evening party.

The anniversary week doubles as a belated celebration of the shop’s expansion in 2020, including the opening of the Nature’s Temple wellness centre, which had its launch interrupted by the first lockdown.

Owner Jane Pearson told SuffolkNews: “It’s quite momentous. I feel very elated, proud and thankful to the team that works with me. I couldn’t have done it on my own.

“I’ve had to adapt over the last couple of years, and I’m very thankful that the team has adapted with me. It would be a very different story if I hadn’t had their support.”

Jane, a former beauty therapist, first opened Health Foods For You in Friars Street in 2012, but stated the limited footfall led her to consider winding the business down, before the chance to move to new premises in North Street arose.

After three years, she then expanded into the neighbouring unit, adding beauty treatments and complementary therapies to her food and drink offering.

“The treatment and salon side of things, because we’re about a holistic approach, has been received very positively,” she said. “The team I have are committed and experienced.

“I think the shop is feeling the strain of the lack of footfall in town. The effect of the pandemic and the rise of living costs has made a big impact on our weekly trade. It’s not as it was and it may never be.

“I’m remaining optimistic, though. We’ve certainly been through some trials and tribulations, but we now have the combination of the right property and the synergy of our practitioners.”

She added: “The events are a reminder that we’re still here. We value people’s loyalty, and we want to show our loyalty to our customers.”

Talks and demos on nutrition and holistic treatments, such as electrolysis, reflexology and massage, will be held daily next week, while a special discount is also available.

A celebration party with cake and fizz will be held next Friday at 5pm.
