An inquest into the death of an 84-year-old woman who was found dead following a house fire in Clare has been opened and adjourned.

A post mortem examination concluded that Bridget Burgess died from smoke inhalation and burning after a fire in her home in Nethergate Street on February, 17.

Pathologists were able to identify Mrs Burgess by the serial number on her hip prosthesis.

Coroner Dr Dan Sharpstone opened and adjourned the inquest on Monday.
