Cobblers in Hadleigh High Street to be taken over by owners of Bake My Day by Marie and Sarah’s Coffee Shop

The new owners of a popular café and wine bar in a Suffolk town hope it will become the perfect venue to enjoy a cocktail outdoors.

Cobblers in Hadleigh High Street has been bought by businesswomen: Marie Barker of Bake My Day by Marie and Sarah Smy of Sarah’s Coffee Shop, who both “fell in love” with the vibe of the venue.

The duo are planning to extend the opening hours at Cobblers until 11.30pm on Friday and Saturdays, and transform the courtyard into a year-round spot to enjoy fine wines and freshly-made cocktails.

Sarah said: “Having watched it from the start of its journey, I always loved the look and feel of Cobblers. I followed the refurb by the previous owners and think it has a really lovely vibe.

“Hadleigh is a lovely town, everyone is so friendly and it’s a quaint high street that we’re proud to now be a part of.

“We want to keep providing all the great things Cobblers prides itself on – the nice light lunches and a variety of quality dishes.”

The businesswomen aim to install courtyard heaters, which will allow the space to be used throughout the winter months. Blankets will also be available.

Sarah explained: “What we really want to do now is bring the courtyard back to life. It is perfect for an evening drink, be that a glass of wine or a freshly made cocktail. It is such a nice place to unwind.”

Marie added: “I am so excited to have achieved my life-long dream of owning my own café.”

She continued: “I have always dreamt of having a warm, cosy and welcoming place to enjoy a drink or a nice bite to eat – including both traditional and trendy cakes.

“Sarah and I have been friends for over 10 years now and we make a fab team. I’m really excited for the future.”

Cobblers will continue to serve its popular daytime menu, with the addition of Marie’s sweet and savoury bakes.
