Kentwell Hall in Long Melford preparing to kick off events season with Tudor May Day Festival

Events season at a major heritage site in Long Melford is set to kick off next month, with the launch of a three-day festival.

Kentwell Hall will host its Tudor May Day Festival from Saturday, May 1, to Monday, May 3, between 11am and 5pm on each day.

Based on a popular historic event that occurred during Tudor times, it will feature period re-enactments, traditional plays, authentic live music, processions, garlanding and dancing.

During the event, the 30-acre gardens and farm paddocks will also be open for visitors to explore.

Due to coronavirus regulations, pre-booking will be required to attend the festival, as Kentwell Hall confirmed it will be limiting the numbers of visitors on site at one time, with no tickets available on the gate on this occasion.

Once on site, visitors are asked to observe social distancing precautions and follow the one-way route around the gardens, while face coverings, gloves and hand sanitiser are also recommended.
