Kernos Centre counselling charity in Sudbury collects £1,403 from annual fundraising quiz

A charity, which provides weekly counselling support at its base in Sudbury, hosted an annual quiz last week.

Staged at Long Melford Village Memorial Hall, the Kernos Centre welcomed 112 guests, who put their general knowledge to the test last Friday to help raise £1,403 for the charity.

Chris Helliwell, from the Cock & Bell in Long Melford, who has supported the charity fundraiser for six years, acted as quiz master for the evening.

“I really enjoy The Kernos Centre quiz,” he said. “And it is for a good cause, which is why I am very happy to run it every year.”

Sudbury town mayor Robert Spivey, who attended the event with his wife, Hilary, said: “It was an excellent evening for an excellent charity – I was very happy to hear that so much money was raised.”

Praising the event, Chris Boatwright, founder and clinical director of The Kernos Centre, thanked those who took part. “Once again, to find so many people supporting and attending this event is a real example of the community spirit that enables our charity to continue,” she said.
